FORT WORTH, Texas (Sept. 10, 2025) – Following selection committee balloting and the social media fan vote, Oklahoma senior Jase Summy has been voted the Ben Hogan Award’s August Golfer of the Month.

Summy, the fourth-ranked player in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, had a pair of victories during August. His signature win came at the 123rd Western Amateur Championship by virtue of a 6 and 5 final in the championship match. Summy tied for 11th during stroke play with a 72-hole score of 279 (-1) before winning four straight match-play tilts.

The product of Keller, Texas, also shared medalist honors at The Carmel Cup, the first collegiate event of the season. He fired a three-round score of 205 (-11) at Spyglass Country Club, including a final-round 66 (-6).

In addition, Summy advanced to the match-play round of 32 at the U.S. Amateur after finishing in the top 10 among the 312 golfers in stroke play (139, -1). In all, he earned 53.8 WAGR points over three events during the month, the most tallied by any player in the world.

The Ben Hogan Award Golfer of the Month selection committee is comprised of foundation members from the Ben Hogan Award and Friends of Golf as well from as the award’s selected partners. In addition, a fan vote on social media earned the top vote getter on each of the @benhoganaward social media channels a bonus committee vote.

The other finalists for the August honor were Oklahoma State junior Ethan Fang and Auburn junior Jackson Koivun.

Each May, the Ben Hogan Award Presented By Baird recognizes the top collegiate golfer considering all college, amateur and professional events played over the 12-month period. The 2026 award season runs from the 2025 NCAA Championships through the 2026 NCAA Regionals.

The Ben Hogan Award has honored the outstanding amateur collegiate golfer at Colonial Country Club since 2002. Prior to its move to Fort Worth, the original Ben Hogan Trophy was issued by Friends of Golf at Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles, Calif., beginning in 1990. Since 2002, the foundation has donated more than $1.3 million to charitable endeavors, providing scholarship grants to colleges as well as gifts to golf programs and organizations in need.
