FORT WORTH, Texas (Oct. 14, 2025) – Following standout performances last month, Virginia’s Ben James, Alabama’s William Jennings and Texas Tech’s Tim Wiedemeyer have been named the finalists for the Ben Hogan Award September Golfer of the Month.

James, a senior from Milford, Conn., finished in a five-way tie for first place at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational with a 3-round score of 209 (-1). In addition, he shared third place at The Invitational at the Honors Course with a 54-hole score of 211 (-5). He began the month by competing for victorious Team USA at the Walker Cup. He had a 70.00 stroke average for the month over six rounds and scored 33.5 points in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR).

Jennings, a sophomore, won the Folds of Honor Collegiate title with a score of 4-under score of 209. The native of Greenville, S.C., also finished in a five-way tie for first place at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational with a 3-round score of 209 (-1). In his other outing, he tied for 39th at the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational with a 6-over sum of 216. In all, he had a 70.44 scoring average for the month over nine rounds and earned 37.3 WAGR points.

Wiedemeyer, a junior, claimed the individual title at the Olympia Fields Country Club/Fighting Illini Invitational by one shot with a 6-under-par score of 204. The player from Olching, Germany, also tied for sixth at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational with a 3-round score of 210 (E), just one shot out of first place. Over six rounds in the month, he posted a 69.00 stroke average and achieved 36.4 points in the WAGR standings.

The Ben Hogan Award Golfer of the Month will be chosen by a selection committee comprised of foundation members from the Ben Hogan Award and Friends of Golf as well from as the award’s selected partners. In addition, a Fan Vote on social media through Wednesday at 5 p.m. (CT) will give the top vote getter on each of the @benhoganaward social media channels (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter) a bonus committee vote. The winner will be announced on Thursday.

The Ben Hogan Award presented by Baird annually recognizes the top collegiate golfer considering all college, amateur and professional events played over the 12-month period beginning with the 2025 NCAA Championships and running through the 2026 NCAA Regionals.
