FORT WORTH, Texas (Oct. 17, 2025) – Following selection committee balloting and the social media fan vote, Alabama sophomore William Jennings has been named the Ben Hogan Award’s September Golfer of the Month. He is the third straight golfer from the Southeastern Conference to claim the honor.
Jennings had a pair of victories in three events during September, including a solo victory at the Folds of Honor Collegiate title with a score of 4-under score of 209. The native of Greenville, S.C., also finished in a five-way tie for first place at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational, the highest-rated college event of the month, with a 3-round score of 209 (-1).
In his other outing, Jennings tied for 39th at the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational, the second-highest rated field, with a 6-over sum of 216. In all, he carried a 70.44 scoring average for the month over nine rounds and earned 37.3 World Amateur Golf Ranking points.
The other finalists for the September honor were Virginia senior Ben James and Texas Tech junior Tim Wiedemeyer.
The Ben Hogan Award Golfer of the Month selection committee is comprised of foundation members from the Ben Hogan Award and Friends of Golf as well from as the award’s selected partners. In addition, a fan vote on social media earned the top vote getter on each of the @benhoganaward social media channels a bonus committee vote.
Each May, the Ben Hogan Award Presented by Baird recognizes the top collegiate golfer considering all college, amateur and professional events played over the 12-month period. The 2026 award season runs from the 2025 NCAA Championships through the 2026 NCAA Regionals.
The Ben Hogan Award has honored the outstanding amateur collegiate golfer at Colonial Country Club since 2002. Prior to its move to Fort Worth, the original Ben Hogan Trophy was issued by Friends of Golf at Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles, Calif., beginning in 1990. The foundation has donated more than $1.3 million to charitable endeavors, providing scholarship grants to colleges as well as gifts to golf programs and organizations in need.
