The September Six…
While a number of college golfers kicked off the 2013-14 season in style, below are six players, all of whom currently rank among the top 50 in the world amateur and college golf rankings, who enjoyed standout Septembers. Thomas Detry, Illinois, Sophomore
In the Rankings: No. 26 in WAGR, No. 28 in Scratch Players, No. 13 in Golfweek/Sagarin
In September: Claimed his first collegiate victory at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate…tied for sixth at OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational to begin the season…posted a 70.50 stroke average for the month.
In the Past: Has not been previously named to The Ben Hogan Award Watch List
Gavin Green, New Mexico, Junior
In the Rankings: No. 19 in WAGR, No. 20 in Scratch Players, No. 20 in Golfweek/Sagarin
In September: Tied for first at the William H. Tucker…shared runner up honors at the Gopher Invitational in his first tournament of the year…finished seventh at the Golfweek Conference Challenge…had a 70.33 stroke average.

In September: Won the Jack Nicklaus Invitational to give him top-3 finishes in all three September events…tied for runner up honors at the Gopher Invitational…placed third at the Saint Mary’s Invitational…carried a 69.44 average.

Cheng-Tsung Pan, Washington, Junior
In the Rankings: No. 5 in WAGR, No. 11 in Scratch Players, No. 26 in Golfweek/Sagarin
In September: Was the medalist at the Kikkor Husky Invitational for the second straight year…started the year with a tie for fifth at the Topy Cup…netted a team-best 69.50 scoring average.
In the Past: Named a semifinalist for The Ben Hogan Award in 2012 and 2013
Ollie Schniederjans, Georgia Tech, Junior
In the Rankings: No. 30 in WAGR, No. 16 in Scratch Players, No. 15 in Golfweek/Sagarin
In September: Tied for first at the Carpet Capital Collegiate to earn his first collegiate title…placed third at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate in his other September start…recorded a team-best 70.00 scoring average.

Bobby Wyatt, Alabama, Senior
In the Rankings: No. 27 in WAGR, No. 5 in Scratch Players, No. 19 in Golfweek/Sagarin
In September: Member of the victorious U.S. Walker Cup team…was the top point scorer at the event (3.5 points) with a 3-0-1 record…tied for sixth at the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational in his lone college event…had a 71.71 scoring average.
