Kostis to serve as keynote speaker at 2016 Ben Hogan Award banquet

pete_400x400FORT WORTH, Texas (Feb. 8, 2016) – Colonial Country Club, Friends of Golf (FOG) and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) have announced that world-renowned golf instructor and commentator Peter Kostis will serve as the keynote speaker at the finalist banquet for the 2016 Ben Hogan Award presented by Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. (Konica Minolta).

“We are thrilled to have Peter Kostis give our keynote address this year,” Dr. Bill Barnes, the co-chairman of The Ben Hogan Award Committee, said. “His experiences as both a teacher and announcer are second-to-none, and we know his remarks will be entertaining and informative for our finalists and our dinner attendees.”

Kostis has been a golf analyst and on-course reporter for CBS Sports for more than a quarter century, dating back to 1990. He has worked the Masters Tournament and PGA Championship for the network annually since 1992.

In 2006, he earned an Emmy for his Konica Minolta bizhub® SwingVision Camera analysis on CBS. From 1989-2004, Kostis was also the lead analyst of USA Network’s golf team, getting his start in broadcasting during the 1989 Ryder Cup.

An annual Golf Digest Top 50 Teacher, Kostis has been part of Golf Digest’s Professional Panel for more than 20 years. In addition, he served as head instructor of the magazine’s instructional schools from 1978 to 1987.

Kostis is listed among the Golf Magazine Top 100 teachers each year and has appeared on the cover of Golf Digest seven times. Kostis also is a contributing writer for Golf Magazine and Golf.com.

Over the years, he has taught and played golf in more than 28 countries and has instructed more than 125 PGA, LPGA, and Champions Tour pros including Jack Nicklaus, Tom Kite, Mark Calcavecchia, Davis Love III, Bernhard Langer, Paul Casey, Chez Reavie and Grace Park.

Kostis has also taught well-known celebrities such as Kevin Costner, Maury Povich, Dan Marino, and former baseball notables Jim Rice and Mike Schmidt. He is the founder of the Peter Kostis Golf Academy in Scottsdale, Ariz.
